There was plenty to celebrate for Abbeyfield Hoylake and West Kirby Society as resident Doreen marked her 104th birthday on 23 October at Lear House.
The celebrations included a wonderful afternoon of singing and dancing with Sandra Currie, who provided a fantastic selection of music, including Doreen’s favourite song, "The Green, Green Grass of Home". There was also a special birthday cake, baked by Head Chef Sarah, which everyone enjoyed together at tea time.
There were numerous messages from family and friends around the world. Doreen was also able to catch up with relatives living overseas through WhatsApp calls, making sure those further away could still be part of the celebrations.
Doreen's birthday was also marked during Lear House's intergenerational activities. At the Connected Generations baby group, everyone joined in to sing Happy Birthday, and Doreen received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Jenna, the organiser from Connected Community Wellbeing CIC. The celebrations continued at the intergenerational Popcats session, where she was treated to another round of birthday singing!
It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate such a special milestone. Everyone at Abbeyfield England sends their very best wishes to Doreen on her 104th birthday!
