The Abbeyfield Belfast Society recently held some amazing celebrations in honour of the Abbeyfield Movement's 70th anniversary.
Not only did they bring together staff, volunteers, residents, friends, family, and local community members; they also managed to use this celebration to make a difference. Age NI are the leading charity for older people in Northern Ireland and, by teaming up with The Abbeyfield Belfast Society, an incredible £1,400+ was raised to support the cause.
With food, drinks, snacks, and raffle prizes, the celebrations embodied the sense of community that Abbeyfield instils in each of its houses. We'd like to extend a massive congratulations to The Abbeyfield Belfast Society for supporting such an important and relevant cause whilst celebrating the legacy of the Abbeyfield Movement.
After 70 years of providing care and support to older people across the nation, we look forward to the next 70 years, and seeing more Abbeyfield communities form across the globe.

International learning and the Abbeyfield spirit
We were delighted to recently welcome Oscar Lustin, Co-founder of Domani in France, to Father Popieluszko House in Acton, part of the Abbeyfield London Polish Society. The visit was a fascinating exchange of ideas and experiences, and a reminder that while housing and care systems may look different from one country to another, the values that underpin them can be remarkably similar.
