This week we were delighted to celebrate an extraordinary milestone at Abbeyfield Brecon as we honour Joan on the occasion of her 100th birthday.
Reaching a century is a truly remarkable achievement, and Joan’s life spans an incredible period of history, change, and resilience. Over the years, she has witnessed the world transform in ways few can imagine, carrying with her a lifetime of stories, experiences, and wisdom.
Since becoming part of the Abbeyfield Brecon community in 2022, Joan has been a valued and much-loved resident. She is known for her kindness, warm smile & quiet strength.
This special day gives us the opportunity to reflect not only on the many years lived, but on the relationships formed, memories shared, and moments of joy & sorrow along the way. We are honoured to celebrate this milestone together and to recognise a life so well lived.

Purchased in 1997 by the Abbeyfield Brecon Society, Abbeyfield House is in a very friendly community with stunning views of the Brecon Beacons. We have twelve flats which are all en-suite and come with a kitchen area allowing you to remain independent and prepare light meals and snacks at your convenience. Our home is close by to a friendly town with many shops, theatre and cinema, as well as a beautiful Cathedral.

We were delighted to recently welcome Oscar Lustin, Co-founder of Domani in France, to Father Popieluszko House in Acton, part of the Abbeyfield London Polish Society. The visit was a fascinating exchange of ideas and experiences, and a reminder that while housing and care systems may look different from one country to another, the values that underpin them can be remarkably similar.
