Abbeyfield Bishop’s Castle Society welcomed members of the local community to a special garden party in June, marking 70 years of Abbeyfield.
Organised by the House Committee, the celebration took place on a beautifully sunny afternoon. Residents and guests were greeted with a glass of Prosecco or squash before making their way into the garden, where two talented local musicians provided the entertainment.
There was plenty for everyone to enjoy, including a popular plant stall featuring produce grown by one of our green-fingered residents, as well as a bottle stall and raffle. A competition to guess how much a selection of sweets would have cost in the 1950s also proved a great success, prompting many fond memories and lively conversations.
No garden party would be complete without something delicious to eat. Our House Manager baked wonderful homemade scones, which were served with strawberries and cream alongside tea and coffee. Guests enjoyed their refreshments in the garden and lounge while catching up with old friends and making new ones.
Everyone agreed that it had been a perfect afternoon—and a wonderful way to celebrate 70 years of Abbeyfield and the joy of being part of the Abbeyfield family.
