To mark our 70th anniversary, Abbeyfield Living Society has introduced a cuddly mascot – Abbey the Abbeyfield bear. She has been busy this year supporting our special celebrations around the country and beyond – here are some of her highlights so far…

4. Having a Baloo-ming marvellous time in the Nine Oaks garden
5. Taking in the stunning sea view from Whitby Abbey
6. Receiving the royal treatment at Hampton Court Palace with Lee House
7. The Great Bear with the Apollo 11 crew at Sherwood Observatory
8. A flag bear-er for Hampton House to celebrate VE Day
9. Pawsing for a chat with new friends at the beach in Llandudno
10. Doing her best King Kong impression in New York
11. Welcoming the sun at Abbeyfield House, New Malden
12. Creating panda-monium at the Speedwell Court circus
13. Getting plenty of bear hugs at the Sandwood Seedlings playgroup

Going the distance for our residents
Staff members Bobbie, Iris, Pam and Shirley at the Abbeyfield Canvey Island Society have completed a half marathon (13.1 miles) to raise funds for their Residents' social fund, on the 6th of October 2026. Dressed in tutus and bunny ears, these dedicated staff members took on this challenge to advocate against the issue of loneliness among older people.

Super Sarah goes the distance
Sarah Hutchinson, Regional Operations Manager at Abbeyfield Living Society (ALS), took on The Wall on 13-14 June, running an incredible 70 miles along Hadrian’s Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle.
