Staff members Bobbie, Iris, Pam and Shirley at the Abbeyfield Canvey Island Society have completed a half marathon (13.1 miles) to raise funds for their Residents' social fund, on the 6th of October 2026. Dressed in tutus and bunny ears, these dedicated staff members took on this challenge to advocate against the issue of loneliness among older people.
The funds raised will be used for events, trips and activities; this helps Abbeyfield House, Canvey Island to create a homely, stimulating environment for all their residents.
The team's hard work has even been featured in the Echo, detailing their fundraising mission and the Abbeyfield family environment at the heart of our homes. We are delighted to see the championing of our residents in their local community.
Well done to all the amazing colleagues contributing to this challenge and to the Abbeyfield Canvey Island Society for their continued hard work in providing exciting activities for those who call Abbeyfield House their home!
