Abbeyfield The Dales brought residents, families, staff and volunteers together across The Beeches, Fern House and Grove House to celebrate Abbeyfield's 70th anniversary.
The Beeches, Menston
The celebration at The Beeches, Menston featured a lively game of Play Your Cards Right, organised by an employee and her husband, with residents taking on the hosts in a fun challenge.
A volunteer kindly gave up their time to play the keyboard, providing entertainment as part of the morning programme. Relatives of residents organised an umbrella golf activity, which proved very popular, alongside a bean bag toss that encouraged some friendly competition.
Residents and visitors also enjoyed a craft stall and refreshments, including coffee and delicious cake. A chocolate fountain was a particular highlight.
At lunchtime, Chief Executive Philip Birkinshaw attended and delivered a speech explaining the significance of the celebration before officially cutting the cake.
The afternoon continued with music and Pimm's, with entertainment provided by the band Fab Four, who generously performed free of charge and were a huge hit.
It was a great day for them all.
Fern House
Abbeyfield The Dales celebrated its 70th anniversary at Fern House with a fantastic day of festivities, bringing together residents, families, trustees, members of the Senior Leadership Team, colleagues and the wider community to mark this important milestone.
The celebration reflected seven decades of providing care, companionship and support, while recognising everyone who has played a part in the organisation's journey.
Guests enjoyed a packed programme of entertainment throughout the day. A talented magician amazed the crowd with close-up tricks, while a live singer kept everyone entertained with music that had many singing along.
There was something for all ages, with face painting, competitions and traditional games creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors also had the opportunity to admire a classic car, which proved to be a popular attraction.
No celebration would be complete without great food, and guests were treated to a delicious barbecue buffet alongside a visit from an ice cream van, helping everyone make the most of the occasion.
The event was filled with laughter, conversation and cherished memories as residents, families and visitors spent quality time together.
A huge thank you goes to the incredible kitchen team for preparing and serving such fantastic food, and to every member of staff who helped organise, support and deliver the event. Their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication behind the scenes ensured the day ran seamlessly and created a truly memorable celebration for everyone involved.
Thanks also went to the trustees, Senior Leadership Team, volunteers, entertainers and everyone who attended and contributed to making the 70th anniversary such a special occasion.

Grove House
On 3rd July, Grove House proudly celebrated 70 years of Abbeyfield with a wonderful day full of fun, laughter and community spirit.
The morning began by welcoming guests from 10am with freshly brewed coffee and delicious homemade scones. Everyone had the opportunity to take part in the raffle and tombola, as well as browse and purchase beautiful handmade gifts from Elissa's stall.
Mary and Philip gave an informative speech, sharing Abbeyfield's rich history and exciting plans for the future. They cut an anniversary cake to mark the special milestone, with slices enjoyed by guests throughout the afternoon.
Everyone also enjoyed a celebratory barbecue lunch before gathering in the courtyard to listen to a performance by the Unity Ukes ukulele band, whose music created a wonderful atmosphere.
One of the most entertaining parts of the afternoon was seeing staff, family members and trustees join together for some friendly sporting activities. There was plenty of laughter during the tug of war, egg and spoon race and three-legged race.
To finish the celebrations, everyone was treated to a refreshing glass of Pimm's and an ice cream before the lucky winners of the raffle draw were announced.
A huge thank you went to everyone who joined the celebration, with an extra special thank you to all the volunteers, staff, families and trustees who went above and beyond to make the day such a memorable success.
