Earl Keelan House, DL3 8PD

Nestled in a leafy road in Darlington’s West End, Earl Keelan house is built on the site of Lady Starmer’s former coach house and sits within the Danby Lodge estate along with two other Abbeyfield Darlington homes; Sir Charles Starmer House and JF Latimer House.

At Earl Keelan, we give you the chance to retain your independence, whilst remaining part of an active and social community.

Our home offers seven rooms, all of which have undergone refurbishment. Each apartment has a separate bathroom and lounge and comes with a small kitchenette, fridge and beautiful views over the gardens. We also have a guest room with ensuite and kitchenette and this can be used for a short stay or even respite. Laundry is offered as a service to all of our residents but there are facilities available should you wish to do your own. We have ample parking for those who need it, and you are more than welcome to bring your own car.

We encourage residents to decorate their room with their favourite pieces of furniture, ornaments and photos to make your room a real home from home. There is also the possibility to repaint or hang your own curtains should you wish.

Our communal lounge and dining room are available for residents to use at their leisure, and we always welcome your family and friends to join us for lunch, dinner or coffee mornings. We are lucky to have stunning gardens which residents are encouraged to help maintain, with several of our residents tending to their own flower beds and helping staff grow fruit and herbs.

Our staff are extremely dedicated to Abbeyfield and embody the Abbeyfield ethos; always willing to go that extra mile for the residents.

We have regular coffee mornings, afternoon tea and games. We do trips to the local wildlife centre and restaurants. We also run lots of events throughout the year such as garden parties and BBQs.
