Comfortable and friendly retirement homes in Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead

Abbeyfield Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Society are a member society of The Abbeyfield England Society a national charity providing houses and homes to older people throughout the UK. Together we are one big family.

We have three comfortable, friendly retirement homes where older people can retain their independence, whilst in the knowledge that support is on hand and the day to day worries of maintaining a property are completely taken care of.

Our three homes are located in the heart of their communities, you'll find Sibleys Orchard in Leverstock Green,  St Mary's House in the old town of Hemel Hempstead and Annett House in the charming village of Potten End in Berkhamsted. We want you to treat our homes as your own home, and all of our rooms come unfurnished to allow you to bring your own personal and treasured belongings, and all of our rooms are fully en-suite.

All our homes have beautiful communal areas where you can socialise with other residents or relax.

About the Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Society

At Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead Society our residents enjoy the companionship, friendliness and support in our three sheltered homes where they can retain their independence whilst knowing that support is on hand.

The Abbeyfield (Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead) Society Limited is part of the national Abbeyfield movement and is a charity which exists to provide high quality housing at a reasonable cost for elderly people.

Each house is run by a volunteer committee which enables us to keep our fees low and caring staff provide meals and support in a family atmosphere.

Each resident has their own en-suite room (or flat) to furnish as they wish and also use of communal areas including extensive well kept gardens.

Whilst we are not a registered care home and cannot provide personal care we do provide support and will work with residents and their families to ensure older people are able to retain their dignity and independence for as long as possible.
